How it’s made

From log to laminated board

Ten carefully controlled steps, each filmed on our factory floor. Tap any video to watch that stage.

Log Selection, manufacturing step 1
Step 1 of 10

Log Selection

Every board starts with the right tree. We select straight, sound logs from responsibly managed plantations.

  • Logs graded for diameter, straightness and defects
  • Sourced from replanted and managed plantations
  • Traceable supply from yard to press
Debarking & Conditioning, manufacturing step 2
Step 2 of 10

Debarking & Conditioning

Logs are cut to length, debarked and conditioned so the wood peels cleanly and evenly.

  • Cross-cut to peeling length
  • Bark removed to protect blades
  • Conditioned for a smooth, tear-free veneer
Rotary Peeling, manufacturing step 3
Step 3 of 10

Rotary Peeling

On the lathe, each log turns against a long blade, unrolling a continuous sheet of veneer.

  • Precision lathe peeling for uniform thickness
  • Veneer clipped to standard sheet widths
  • Maximum yield from every log
Veneer Drying, manufacturing step 4
Step 4 of 10

Veneer Drying

Green veneers are dried to a controlled moisture content, the key to a stable, flat board.

  • Dried to target moisture content
  • Prevents warping and glue failure
  • Moisture checked before lay-up
Grading & Patching, manufacturing step 5
Step 5 of 10

Grading & Patching

Skilled hands grade each veneer, repairing splits and knots so only sound sheets reach the press.

  • Face, core and back veneers sorted by grade
  • Splits jointed, knots patched
  • Defective veneer rejected
Glue Spreading, manufacturing step 6
Step 6 of 10

Glue Spreading

Resin is spread evenly on the core veneers, using the formulation that suits the grade being made.

  • Grade-specific resin formulation
  • Even, controlled spread rate
  • Anti-termite chemicals added to the glue line
Lay-up & Cold Press, manufacturing step 7
Step 7 of 10

Lay-up & Cold Press

Veneers are stacked with alternating grain direction, then pre-pressed to form a stable panel.

  • Cross-banded lay-up for strength in both directions
  • Odd number of plies for balance
  • Cold pre-press removes air pockets
Hot Pressing, manufacturing step 8
Step 8 of 10

Hot Pressing

Heat and hydraulic pressure cure the resin, permanently bonding the plies into one strong board.

  • Controlled temperature, pressure and time
  • Full resin cure for a durable bond
  • Multi-daylight hydraulic press
Trimming & Sanding, manufacturing step 9
Step 9 of 10

Trimming & Sanding

Boards are squared to size and sanded to a smooth, calibrated thickness.

  • Edges trimmed square to exact sheet size
  • Calibrated sanding for uniform thickness
  • Faces finished ready for laminate or polish
Quality Check & Dispatch, manufacturing step 10
Step 10 of 10

Quality Check & Dispatch

Every batch is inspected, stamped and stacked for safe delivery to your site or showroom.

  • Thickness, bond and surface inspection
  • Grade-stamped and batch-labelled
  • Packed and loaded for island-wide delivery
